Before you can hit the water, you need to pack
a lot of stuff: food, water, dry bag, wet suit, spray skirt, wind breaker, life
vest, sun glasses, sun screen, hat, pump, floatation device, and the kayak. Oh, yes,
and a paddle. |

Bad news. You have to carry your kayak down to
the water. Sally and Shannon make it look like a walk in the park. |

The whole gang is ready to go.
One shove and we're off. |
Sally gives the camera a beautiful smile. |
Shannon enjoys the quiet.
Is Raphael having fun or what? |
Something seems to have grabbed my paddle. LEGGO MY
PADDLE! |
Instructor John Lull, one of the Tsunami Rangers, demonstrates the draw stroke.
His students promptly use the draw stroke to jam
together. You thought LA had traffic. |
I tossed instructor John Lull my camera and asked him to
take a shot of us all rafted up. Wish I had asked him to pull up his sleeve, too. |
Don't know what you call this, but if you know, please
write. |
The gray, cloudy day doesn't lessen Sally's enthusiam as
she paddles effortlessly towards the boat harbor. |
"What's that on the bluff? Why, it's a restaurant. And
look at that beach where we can haul out. LUNCH!" |
More bad news. Not only do you have to carry your kayak out
of the water, but you have to clean up, too. The cold water from the hose is wonderfully
warm compared to the Pacific. |
